Everyone is aware of Global Media Control Toolbar, which was introduced by Google in Chrome v79. The feature when enabled allows users to manage all active media playback sessions right from a single controller. Starting with Chrome Canary v86.0.4186.0, the company introduced a new PIP mode button in Media Control Toolbar. With the help of this icon, users can enter media sessions in picture-in-picture mode from the media control toolbar by making a single click.
Enable PIP Mode from Chrome’s Media Control Toolbar
As of writing this blog post, the feature is hidden behind the flags and users have to enable it manually. Earlier users have to take the help of Global Media Controls flags that company has replaced with Global Media Controls Picture-in-Picture. If you want to try the new feature, then here’s how you can enable and use the GMC + PIP flyout Make sure, you’re using latest version of Chrome in Canary channel and then visit this chrome://flags/#global-media-controls flag address. Here using Global Media Controls Picture-in-Picture drop-down, change the settings from Default to Enabled. Click on the Restart button to apply the changes. After doing this, Global Music Control icon will start appearing on the extension area. Now visit youtube.com and start playing a video, then click on the GMC icon to open the toolbar.
